Kioxia falls 7.1% as first-half revenue jumps 436.8%
The NAND maker's half-year profit soared and it declared a dividend, yet the stock extended a slide that has taken 23.05% off its price since Oct 9.
Kioxia said on Oct 30 that its revenue for the six months to Sept 30, 2026, rose 436.8% from a year earlier to ¥4,247,152 million (about US$26.9 billion). The NAND flash memory maker also declared a mid-year dividend of ¥90 per share. It paid no dividend at all for the fiscal year that ended in March 2026.
The shares moved the other way. Kioxia closed at ¥13,470 (about US$85.38) on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, down 7.14% from ¥14,505 a session earlier. The Nikkei 225, Tokyo’s main share index, lost 2.12% over the same session.
Operating profit tops ¥3 trillion
Profit grew much faster than sales. Operating profit for the half reached ¥3,264,727 million (about US$20.7 billion), against ¥130,820 million a year earlier. Profit attributable to owners of the parent, which is the company’s net profit, came to ¥2,197,871 million (about US$13.9 billion), up from ¥58,946 million.
| Six months to Sept 30 | 2026 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | ¥4,247,152m | ¥791,145m |
| Operating profit | ¥3,264,727m | ¥130,820m |
| Profit attributable to owners of the parent | ¥2,197,871m | ¥58,946m |
| Basic earnings per share | ¥1,349.33 | ¥36.42 |
Both per-share figures are restated for the 3-for-1 stock split that took effect on Oct 1, 2026. Kioxia prepared the results under international accounting standards (IFRS). The company said auditors had not reviewed them.
The balance sheet also grew. Total assets rose to ¥5,883,885 million at Sept 30 from ¥3,690,071 million at March 31. The equity ratio climbed to 49.8% from 37.9% over the same months. That ratio compares equity attributable to owners of the parent with total assets.
A ¥90 dividend after a year of none
The payout is for the end of the second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027. Kioxia stated the amount on a pre-split basis. That means it does not line up directly with today’s split-adjusted share price. A guide to Kioxia’s 3-for-1 split shows how to compare figures from before and after Oct 1.
Payment is scheduled to begin on Dec 8, 2026. In its release, Kioxia labels the dividend as a revision to its earlier dividend forecast.
Kioxia’s forecast through December
The company also gave guidance for the nine months ending Dec 31, 2026. Kioxia expects revenue of ¥6,747,152 million (about US$42.8 billion) for that period, up 405.5% from a year earlier. It projects operating profit of ¥5,259,727 million and profit attributable to owners of the parent of ¥3,557,871 million. These are the company’s own projections.
Korean trade data show how NAND prices have moved. South Korea’s export price index for flash memory measures NAND prices in Korean exports, not Kioxia’s own prices. It stood at 245.72 in September 2026, with 2020 set at 100. That was 244.05% higher than a year before, but 0.69% lower than in August.
Memory results also came from Seoul on the same day. Chosunbiz reported that Samsung Electronics had posted a record profit.
Results day deepens an October slide
The drop on Oct 30 added to a decline that has run through most of the month. From Oct 9 to Oct 30, Kioxia shares lost 23.05% in yen and 22.92% in US dollars. The yen barely moved against the dollar over that stretch, so the two figures are close.
The stock briefly steadied in mid-October. On Oct 19 it edged up 1.68% to ¥13,600. The Oct 30 close of ¥13,470 is below that level.
On results day, Kioxia fell further than the wider Tokyo market. Its 7.14% loss compares with the Nikkei 225’s 2.12% decline in the same session. Kioxia’s release gave no explanation for the share move, and no single cause for the selling was reported that day.
