Not financial advice
Everything on Pacific Tape is for general information and education only. It is not investment, financial, legal or tax advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security. Articles do not take your objectives, financial situation or needs into account. Before making any investment decision, do your own research and consider speaking to a licensed adviser in your own jurisdiction.
Investing in shares involves risk, including the loss of the money you invest. Investing in a foreign market adds currency risk and differences in rules, trading hours, taxes and access. Past performance does not indicate future results.
What the site does
The site explains what happened in the market — mostly with pictures such as market maps and charts, followed by short commentary. It describes; it does not forecast or pick stocks. Some data pages, such as daily market maps, are generated automatically from market data. Commentary and guides are written or reviewed by a person before publication.
Data sources and delays
Prices and market data used in charts, such as market maps and closing-price charts, are exchange prices: closing prices set by the Korea Exchange (KRX) for Korean shares, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE; figures via the TWSE OpenAPI, used under Taiwan's Open Government Data License) for Taiwanese shares, the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) for Japanese shares, and regular-session closing prices of US exchanges (Nasdaq, NYSE) for US-listed shares (on the US market maps the members are the constituents of the S&P 500, the Nasdaq-100, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the PHLX Semiconductor Sector Index (Nasdaq), the sectors follow the GICS classification, and the shares outstanding behind each box's market value come from each company's filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission); where a chart uses figures from the KRX Open API, its caption credits them as Korea Exchange statistics (한국거래소 통계정보). Won-dollar exchange rates, at the 15:30 Korea time close, the yen and Taiwan dollar rates against the US dollar used to compare market values across countries, and foreign investors' daily net buying of KOSPI shares (Korea Exchange figures, KRX only) come from the Bank of Korea's Economic Statistics System (ECOS). Other figures come from exchange and index publications, regulatory filings and company announcements, and each article names its sources. None of these providers is affiliated with this site or endorses it.
Every chart states its data source and the time its data refers to directly beneath it, for example: Data: KRX; as of 2026-10-13 close KST. Charts show values we have calculated or summarized from that data, not the providers' full price records.
Market data is not real-time. Charts in articles are usually based on a recent close. The interactive market maps also show intraday prices while a market is open, refreshed about every 15 minutes (Japanese and Taiwanese intraday prices are delayed by 20 minutes), so they can lag the market by that much, and its intraday figures can differ from the official closing prices that replace them after the close. The three exchange rates on the band at the top of each page are intraday market rates during the day, refreshed about every 15 minutes, and their move is measured against the Bank of Korea's 15:30 Korea time close (ECOS); they are indicative and are not the rates any bank or broker will give you. Any figure may be delayed, incomplete, or later revised by its source. Charts may be simplified, and company names and documents published in Korean may be translated by us. Always check a figure against the original source before relying on it.
